Defending champion Jannik Sinner advanced to the semi-finals of the ATP 500 China Open
Defending champion Jannik Sinner (Italy) advanced to the semi-finals of the ATP 500 China Open tennis tournament in Beijing with prize money of 3.72 million USD.
The leader in the world rankings Jannik Sinner eliminated Jiri Lehecka (Czech Republic) by 2-0 (6:2, 7:6(6)) in 106 minutes of play.
The Italian started better and made a break for 3:1 and respectively extended his lead to 4:1 after winning his service game. Then he closed the first set at 6:2 decisively. The second set was very equal without any break, although Jannik Sinner saved two breakpoint and Jiri Lehecka saved one breakpoint. At the end the set went into a tiebreak, in which Jiri Lehecka led with 5-3, but allowed a reversal to 8-6.
In the semi-finals, Jannik Sinner will face Yunchaokete Bu (China), who defeated the fourth-seeded Andrey Rublev (Russia) aby 2-0 (7:5, 6:4).
