Carlos Alcaraz qualified for the fourth round of the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai
Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) qualified for the fourth round of the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai tennis tournament. The third-seeded Spanish tennis player defeated Wu Yibing (China), participating with the “wild card”, by 2-0 (7:6(5), 6:3) in 1:40 hours of play.
For the Spaniard, this is the 11th consecutive success and the 50th in total for the season. Carlos Alcaraz, who won his fourth title of the year in Beijing earlier this week, is unbeaten since crashing out in the second round of the US Open.
“He’s getting his form back after being injured. If he keeps playing at this level, I’m pretty sure I’ll see him more often. I’m really happy I was able to win”, said Carlos Alcaraz for his opponent.
The world’s number two will face the winner of the match between the French tennis players Gael Monfils and 18th-seeded Ugo Humbert in the next round.
The rain confused the program of the tournament yesterday, and apart from this match, only two more were played under the roof – of Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner.
