Carlos Alcaraz is motivated ahead of Spain’s matches in the Davis Cup
Carlos Alcaraz is feeling good physically and is motivated ahead of Spain’s matches in the Davis Cup team tennis tournament. The world’s number two tennis talent has triumphed at Roland Garros and Wimbledon this season and reached the final of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
“I was hoping to do a lot better. I didn’t play at the level I would have liked, but at the end of the day it’s very difficult to perform strongly every day and in every tournament. Maybe I lacked a bit of preparation to doing well in this busy summer. I only had a few days to rest. My last matches are a lesson for the future”, said the 22-year-old Spaniard at a press conference.
He was eliminated in the second round of the US Open.
“I’m feeling good right now, I’m motivated to play for the Davis Cup at home. I really want to feel the love of the people as I haven’t been able to play much in this tournament. I’m very excited and motivated to keep improving. Physically, I did a pretty good job after losing in New York”, said Carlos Alcaraz.
On September 11, 13 and 15, the Team Spain will face the Czech Republic, France and Australia respectively in Valencia in World Group matches for the Davis Cup.
Six-time champions Spain last won the prestigious team tournament in 2019.
Carlos Alcaraz’ teammates are Roberto Bautista Agut and Pedro Martinez.
