British doubles tennis player Olivia Nicholls
Olivia Nicholls is a British tennis player who competes in doubles. She peaked at No 38 in the WTA doubles rankings in October 2024. Olivia Nicholls has won two doubles titles on the WTA Tour, one on the WTA Challenger Tour, and 19 on the ITF Circuit.
Olivia Nicholls was born October 26, 1994, in Norwich, England. She grew raised in Acle, Norfolk, where she attended both Acle Primary School and Acle High School, which is now known as Acle Academy. She earned her A Levels at East Norfolk Sixth Form College in Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk, before pursuing a BSc in Sports Science with Management at Loughborough University.
Olivia Nicholls made her WTA Tour debut at the 2022 Lyon Open, playing doubles with Alicia Barnett. The combination finished in second place, losing to Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva in straight sets. Olivia Nicholls and Alicia Barnett won the doubles championship at the Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby by defeating Harriet Dart and Rosalie van der Hoek in a champions tiebreak.
Olivia Nicholls reached the mixed doubles semifinals at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, teaming with Jonny O’Mara, before falling to eventual champions Mate Pavic and Lyudmyla Kichenok.
In 2024, she claimed her second WTA doubles title. Olivia Nicholls and Olivia Gadecki won the doubles championship at the ATX Open.
Prior to the 2024 US Open, when she reached the third round for the first time with new partner Tereza Mihalikova, Olivia Nicholls rose to No. 57 on August 19, making her the top British female doubles player. The duo reached back-to-back quarterfinals in the WTA 1000 China Open and the WTA 1000 – Wuhan Open.
Olivia Nicholls and Heather Watson were defeated by Tereza Mihalikova and Viktoria Hruncakova in the decisive doubles match at the Billie Jean King Cup finals in November, as Slovakia eliminated Great Britain in the semifinals.
