What to expect from ATP 500 Swiss Indoors Basel?
Traditionally, the Swiss Indoors Basel tournament is one of the last stops for tennis players in the season. The competition is of the ATP 500 category and as always will offer great emotions to the fans in the week between October 21 and 27. Certainly, the tournament has its great value also due to the fact that quite a few tennis players still have chances to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin.
The prize money of the tournament in Basel are 2,385,100 EUR, the surface is hard and the main draw consists of 32 players. Felix Auger-Aliassime won the titles in 2023 and 2022, defeating Hubert Hurkacz and Holger Rune in straight sets, respectively. For sure he will target a treble and although the competition to be fierce, he has big chance to achieve it.
In the Swiss city, we will see some of the best players, and the preliminary list of participants includes the names of Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, Ben Shelton, Arthur Fils, Felix Auger Aliassime and others.
Also will have a serious Chilean presence, with Alejandro Tabilo and Nicolás Jarry expected to feature in the strong race.
An interesting fact is that, at least to date, two of the veterans on the tour will have to go through the qualifiers, namely David Goffin and Roberto Bautista Agut. However, it is still uncertain how the situation will play out for the Spaniard, as the 36-year-old tennis player has been performing very well this week at the ATP 250 European Open in Antwerp and will face Felix Auger Aliassime in the quarter-final match.
