Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev withdrew from the ATP 500 Vienna Open tennis tournament in Austria due to shoulder problems, the organizers announced. The Russian tennis player withdrew from the Austrian tournament just after competing in the Saudi exhibition tournament ‘Six Kings Slam’, where he was defeated by Jannik Sinner.
The 28-year-old tennis player injured his shoulder at the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai, where he lost to Jannik Sinner (Italy) in the quarterfinals with 0-2 (1:6, 4:6).
The ATP 500 Vienna Open tournament will be held from October 21 to 27. The prize fund of the tournament is close to 2.4 million EUR.
Daniil Medvedev is a finalist in the 2023 in the Austrian capital. In the decisive match of last season, he lost to Jannik Sinner by 1-2 (6:7, 6:4, 3:6).
Daniil Medvedev is a former world’s number one in men’s singles by the ATP. He has won 20 ATP Tour singles titles, including the 2021 US Open and 2020 ATP Finals.
