Andrey Rublev qualified for the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 Nordic Open tennis tournament on hard courts in Stockholm (Sweden) with a prize fund of 767,455 EUR. The top-seeded Russian tennis player defeated Alexandre Muller by 2-0 (6:4, 6:1) in just 65 minutes.
Andrey Rublev broke for 3:2 in the first set, then took the lead in the match after 6:4. In the second set, the French tennis player lost serve three times and was unable to oppose the Russian, ranked seventh in the world ranking.
In the next round, Andrey Rublev will face Stan Wawrinka (Switzerland), who is participating with a “wild card”. The Swiss prevailed against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (Spain) with 2-1 (6:4, 3:6, 7:5).
Stan Wawrinka, a three-time Grand Slam winner, trailed 2:4 in the third set but rallied to 5:4 and ended the match with a break at his first opportunity after 2 hours and 12 minutes.
Miomir Kecmanovic (Serbia) also continues to the quarterfinals after success with2-1 ( 6:4, 4:6, 7:6(2)) against the fifth-seeded Nicolas Jarry (Chile).
