Grigor Dimitrov: I am my own biggest critic

Grigor Dimitrov commented on the possibility of reaching the ATP Finals. Now the Bulgarian and the eighth in the ATP ranking Andrey Rublev have a difference of 645 points. Grigor Dimitrov still has a good chance of qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin and did not hide that he hopes to be able to qualify.

“I will do my best to qualify. But at the end of the day, I am my own biggest critic and no one puts more pressure on me than me. No one. And it always has been. This is a personal battle for me right now. If it works out, it will be great, if not, too”, said Grigor Dimitrov.

Will there be more rest then?

“Yeah, but I’m not even talking about that. I don’t really look at everything from that point of view anymore, because if I don’t want to play some tournaments now, I don’t feel ready, then I won’t play them. Of course, the rating is important, but not so much for me. Before, yes, but not anymore”, said Grigor Dimitrov. “Yeah, I’m calm because it’s not the thing that’s going to make me the happiest or get butterflies in my stomach. What we do is amazing and special in itself. It’s great if you can play for many years, as I have, and I hope I will for many more years. And I’m very happy about that”, added he.

The Bulgarian will start his participation in the ATP 250 Stockholm Open tournament, where he is third-seeded, on Thursday.

“Good luck to everyone who can one day do what we did. I say it to those who judge us. I never paid much attention to them, because that’s why only those who have done more than me can speak”, said also Grigor Dimitrov. “So, whether I reach the final tournament or not, regardless of what happens before the end of the year, I will not be discouraged”, added he.
