Iga Swiatek: I’m feeling better and better every day
World number one and top-seeded Iga Swiatek (Poland), who advanced to the quarter-finals of the US Open 2024 after a 2-0 (6:4, 6:1) success over Liudmila Samsonova, said she will improve her game play.
“It was not easy to get into a rhythm. Maybe because we concentrated more on the recovery than the actual training before the Grand Slam tournament”, said Iga Swiatek on the occasion of his first week in New York. “So I’m very happy to have played a few matches. I’m definitely feeling better and better every day”, added the Polish tennis player.
Iga Swiatek’s next opponent will be sixth-seed Jessica Pegula from the USA.
Iga Swiatek celebrated 119 weeks on the top of the WTA ranking. She has won 22 singles titles, including the French Open in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024, US Open in 2022, the 2023 WTA Finals, as well as ten WTA 1000 titles.
