Nick Kyrgios returns at the Abu Dhabi exhibition tournament in December
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has announced his return to the tennis courts after nearly two years of absence.
Nick Kyrgios will return to the court at an exhibition tournament in December in Abu Dhabi. The former world’s No 13 dropped out of the world rankings after being ranked No 470 in October 2023. He has played just one match in the past two years with knee, foot and wrist injuries.
“I’m coming back because there’s something that draws me to the game. I think I’ve been called scandalous because I’m a little outside the circle of players who are considered normal tennis players”, said Nick Kyrgios.
The Australian, who worked as a commentator during his absence, lost the 2022 Wimbledon final to Novak Djokovic (Serbia).
“The only thing I’m aiming for right now is to win a Grand Slam. I think that alone can shut people up. That will be my main motivation”, added Nick Kyrgios.
Earlier, the CEO of Tennis Australia, Craig Tiley, announced tat Nick Kyrgios will return to play for the Australian Open tennis championship in January.
