Coco Gauff advanced to the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 Wuhan Open

The American tennis talent Coco Gauff advanced to the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 Wuhan Open and reached her season 24th win at the WTA 1000 level. The American player defeated Magda Linette (Poland) by 2-0 (6:0, 6:4) in 1:24 hours of play.

For the victory, Coco Gauff scored two aces, but also committed 8 double faults. Despite of that, she made a fantastic match winning 81% of her first serve points. The match started with a break for the American tennis player, who closed the first game on 15. However, in the second game she needed to save 3 breakpoints with the first two being in a row at 15-40. However, Coco Gauff succeeded to win her game and confirm the break. Another break for the American tennis player followed in the third game of the set and at her serve, she needed to save another one breaks point. Coco Gauff won the fifth game, breaking her opponent for the third time and closed the set at her serve without problems. Although she won six games in a row, the first set was quite disputed and hard for her.

Magda Linette won her first game in the match in the beginning of the second set at her own serve, although saving two breakpoints again. Both players won their next serve games and the result was running equal. In the seventh game, Magda Linette gave her opponent two breakpoints at her serve and Coco Gauff did not missed her chance to take a lead in the score. At 5:3, the American tennis talent received three break/match points, but Magda Linette saved them to stay in the match. In the next game, however, at her own serve, Coco Gauff closed the set at 6:4 and won the match

At the semi-finals, Coco Gauff will face the winner between the top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) and Magdalena Frech (Poland).
