Daniil Medvedev qualified for the quarter-finals of the US Open

Daniil Medvedev (Russia) has overcome the fourth round of the US Open tennis championship. The 5th-seeded Russian player easily overcame Nuno Borges (Portugal) after 3-0 (6:0, 6:1, 6:3).

The 2021 champion easily took a 2-0 lead in the match, giving the Portuguese just one game. He was able to break and take a 2:1 lead in the third set, but immediately lost his serve. Another 3:3 draw followed, but the Russian tennis player won the next three games and ended the match at the “Arthur Ashe Stadium” in 108 minutes.

The next opponent of Daniil Medvedev will be the top-seeded Jannik Sinner, who dealt with the American opponent Tommy Paul.

Daniil Medvedev leads Jannik Sinner in their career head-to-head matches at 7-5. However, Jannik Sinner has won five of the last six, including coming back from two sets to love down to win his first grand slam title at the Australian Open in January.
