Jannik Sinner made a comeback against Tomas Martín Etcheverry to reach the Round of 16 of the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai
The world’s number one Jannik Sinner (Italy) defeated Tomas Martín Etcheverry (Argentina) by 2-1 (6:7(3), 6:4, 6:2) in the third round of the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai tournament.
Jannik Sinner dropped two set points in the first set on the serve of his opponent, who managed to take it and send the set to a tiebreak. In it, Tomas Martín Etcheverry made four mini-breaks on Jannik Sinner’s serve against only two for his opponent and took the lead in the result.
In the second set, Jannik Sinner broke for 3:2, but Tomas Martín Etcheverry immediately returned the break and equalized. However, the top-seeded Italian tennis player won the seventh game and thus managed to level the sets after 6:4.
In the third set, Jannik Sinner was the most convincing, he managed to win two games on Tomas Martín Etcheverry’s serve and closed the match with 6:2.
Jannik Sinner scored 12 aces in his match versus Tomas Martín Etcheverry against only 11 for his opponent. The Italian made more winners (40-29) and fewer unforced errors (27-36).
In the Round of 16 of the tournament, Jannik Sinner awaits the winner of the match between Ben Shelton (USA) and Roberto Carballes Baena (Spain).
