Alexander Zverev revealed he was diagnosed with pneumonia
German tennis player Alexander Zverev talks about his health. He was diagnosed with pneumonia.
“I have inflammation of the lungs, which will completely disappear in two or three months. I am taking medication, but the reason I withdrew from Beijing is that I was very sick and had a high fever during and after the Laver Cup. I ended up going to the hospital because I wasn’t feeling well and I didn’t have the strength to play. I was prescribed antibiotics, which I took for a week. I feel better now, but I still have a problem with my lungs”, said Alexander Zverev.
After recuperating the past week, the 27-year-old German tennis player has decided to return to action at the Shanghai Masters although he admits it will take a while before he is 100% healthy again.
“Why I pulled out of Beijing was because I was quite sick. I had quite a high fever during the Laver Cup and after the Laver Cup. I ended up in hospital. I didn’t feel great and just didn’t have the energy to play. I was on antibiotics for a week”, added Alexander Zverev.
The German tennis player played last at the Laver Cup, when he defeated Frances Tiafoe (USD) by 2-1 (6:7 (5), 7:5, 10-5) on September 22.
