Grigor Dimitrov withdrew from the ATP 500 China Open
The best Bulgarian tennis player, Grigor Dimitrov, withdrew from the tennis tournament ATP 500 China Open in Beijing. He was supposed to play in the first round against Roberto Bautista Agut (Spain), but his physical condition did not allow the Bulgarian to participate in the strong tournament, in which he was fifth-seeded. Grigor Dimitrov’s place in the tournament main draw was taken by Arthur Rinderknech (France).
The 33-year-old Grigor Dimitrov arrived in Beijing after helping the Team Europe to win the Laver Cup in the competition against the Team World at the end of last week. In the team competition in Berlin (September 20-22), Grigor Dimitrov contributed to a two-set success with two tiebreaks against Alejandro Tabilo, and even at the end of the match on Friday it was seen that he had problems with his physical condition.
Before that, the best Bulgarian tennis player played an exhibition match against Novak Djokovic in Sofia last Tuesday. The last competitive match of Grigor Dimitrov was on September 4 in the quarterfinals of the US Open, when he withdrew due to injury in the fourth set against Frances Tiafoe (USA).
The next tournament on Grigor Dimitrov’s calendar is the Masters tournament in Shanghai on October 2.
