Alexander Zverev withdrew from the ATP 500 China Open
The world’s number two, Alexander Zverev, refused to participate in the upcoming tennis tournament in the Chinese capital, Beijing, the ATP announced, but without giving a reason.
The German tennis player participated in the Laver Cup in Berlin from Friday to Sunday, but had symptoms of a cold. He has been sidelined with health issues several times this season.
The ATP 500 China Open tennis tournament in Beijing begins on Thursday and will continue until October 2, followed by the competition of the Masters series in Shanghai. It is not yet clear whether Alexander Zverev will play there.
The German tennis player is also entered for Vienna, the Masters in Paris and the ATP Finals in Turin, which he won twice. He has not announced whether he will be part of Germany’s squad for the Davis Cup finals in Malaga, which start on November 18.
