Emma Navarro US Open

Emma Navarro dethroned last year’s champion Cori Coco Gauff in the fourth round of the US Open.

The 13th-seeded Emma Navarro won the all-American clash with the third-seeded Cori Coco Gauff by 2-1 (6:3, 4:6, 6:3) after more than two hours of play. Emma Navarro took the first set with a single break in the sixth game, and in the second set she led with a break for 4:3, but allowed her rival to make a turnover. She dominated in the decisive third set after taking an early 3:1 lead, and then won her opponent’s serve again in the ninth game, securing the final success.

Thus, Emma Navarro reached the quarterfinals for the first time in his hometown of New York, repeating her best achievement in the Grand Slam tournaments from Wimbledon in July.

Emma Navarro’s next opponent will be the 26th-seeded Paula Badosa (Spain), who convincingly defeated with Wang Yafan (China) after 2-0 (6:1, 6:2) and is also in the quarterfinals of Flushing Meadows for the first time and for the second time in the Slam after Roland Garros in 2021.
