Carlos Alcaraz: The number of tournaments will increase as if they want to kill us

Carlos Alcaraz expressed his dissatisfaction with the busy tennis calendar and said that from the outside it looks as if the ATP “want to kill” the players with high physical demands. He said this after his 2-0 (6:4, 6:4) victory over Ben Shelton.

“I assume that in the next few years the tournaments will only grow. It’s as if they want to kill us in some way”, said Carlos Alcaraz. “At the moment we have a large number of injured tennis players. The reason is most likely complex and one of the problems is probably the calendar. I expect the cases in which tennis players miss tournaments en masse due to injuries caused by the large number of matches will become more frequent”, added he.

British tennis player Jack Draper, who reach the semi-finals of the US Open a few days ago, recently said the ATP schedule was “crazy”. He did so after traveling from the US Open to Manchester to play in the Davis Cup.
