Jelena Ostapenko and Lyudmyla Kichenok triumphed with the US Open women’s doubles title
Jelena Ostapenko and Lyudmyla Kichenok won the women’s doubles title at the US Open 2024.
In the final, the 7th-seeded Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia) and Lyudmyla Kichenok (Ukraine), who are the runner-up from the Australian Open earlier this year, defeated Kristina Mladenovic (France) and Zhang Shuai (China) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3).
For both Jelena Ostapenko and Lyudmyla Kichenok, the title is their first Grand Slam in women’s doubles, but their second overall.
Jelena Ostapenko is the 2017 Roland Garros singles champion, while Lyudmyla Kichenok holds the Wimbledon mixed doubles title from 2023.
Kristina Mladenovic remained with six Grand Slam women’s doubles titles in her career, while Zhang Shuai triumphed with the US Open doubles title in 2021.
