Jessica Pegula produced a stunning comeback against Karolina Muchova to reach US Open final
The sixth-seeded American tennis player Jessica Pegula produced a stunning comeback against Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic) in the semi-final clash between the two at the US Open. Jessica Pegula won the match by 2-1 (1:6, 6:4, 6:2) in 2:13 hours of play.
Karolina Muchova started strongly the match and after two break in the fourth and sixth game closed the set at 6:1. Her impetus continued in the second set, when took a 2:0 lead after an early break, but Jessica Pegula returned the break to 2:2 and broke again for 4:2. The Czech tennis player succeeded to equalize the score to 4:4, but another break for Jessica Pegula brought her the success in the set by 6:4.
Jessica Pegula used the impetus she had in her play and started the third set with an early break to take a lead by 3:0. Both won their serve games, but the American was able to break again in the 8th game to close the set and the match.
In the match, Karolina Muchova made twice more winners than her opponent (34-17), but as well as almost twice more unforced errors 40-22.
In the final, the world’s number 6 will face world’s number 2 and Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka. The US Open final is on Saturday.
