Jessica Pegula eliminated top-seeded Iga Swiatek to reach the US Open semi-finals
The world’s number one Iga Swiatek (Poland) is out of the US Open. The Polish tennis player lost her quarter-final clash with Jessica Pegula after 0-2 (2:6, 4:6). At the same time, Jessica Pegula will play against Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic) and to reach the final at Flushing Meadows.
Jessica Pegula made a fantastic match to reach the victory quite easily. In the first set, she was in complete control and after two quick early breaks to closed the set at 6:2.
In the second set, she broke early for 2:1, but Iga Swiatek immediately returned the break for 2:2. However, Jessica Pegula broke again in the seventh game, which turned out to be the key to the final success in the set with 6:4, and accordingly in the match.
Thus, Jessica Pegula will play for the first time in his career in the semi-final of a Grand Slam tournament. There she will compete with Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic).
