Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner shared his expectations from the match against Daniil Medvedev (Russia) in the quarterfinals of the US Open.

“It’s a tough match. There will be a lot of dynamics. I hope I’m ready physically. This match will require physics and psychology. I beat him in Australia, he won at Wimbledon. Both times 5 sets. I hope it will be a good match. We will try to do our best on the court”, said Jannik Sinner in an interview.

Daniil Medvedev has a 7-5 head-to-head record against Jannik Sinner, but the order of those results is more important than their number. The Russian tennis player won their first six meetings, between 2020 and 2023, but was followed by a hegemony of Jannik Sinner in the next five matches, including the 2024 Australian Open final.

The two players last met in July, when Daniil Medvedev defeated Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon quarterfinals by 3-2 (6:7 (7), 6:4, 7:6 (4), 2:6, 6:3).
