Magdalena Frech won the WTA 500 Guadalajara Open title
Magdalena Frech won the WTA 500 Guadalajara Open women’s tennis tournament title. The Polish player defeated the Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki in the final with 2-0 (7:6(5), 6:4) and won the first trophy of her career.
Magdalena Frech became the fourth Polish woman to win a singles title this century, following Magda Linette, Agnieszka Radwanska and current world’s number one Iga Swiatek.
Magdalena Frech reached her first WTA singles final last July in Prague, but Guadalajara was her first WTA 500 and first on hard courts.
The 22-year-old Australian player Olivia Gadecki, who is ranked 152nd in the world, failed to become the first qualifier to take a WTA 500 singles title since 2021.
