Wimbledon 2025 will be held without line judges
The next edition of the Grand Slam tennis tournament Wimbledon will be held without line judges, the organizers of the competition announced.
The oldest tennis competition in the world, which is considered the most prestigious in this sport, has been held on the grass courts of the All England Club in London since 1877, but in 2025, for the first time, there will be an electronic system that in real time to confirm whether a ball is in or out.
Among the other changes that will be made for the next edition is a change in the start time of the singles finals. They will start at 16:00 local time – respectively on Saturday for the women and on Sunday for the men, with the doubles finals taking place before them from 13:00.
The mixed doubles final remains on the last Thursday of the tournament, immediately following the two women’s semi-finals, while only the men’s two semi-finals will be played on Center Court on Friday.
In 2024, the prize fund of the tennis tournament was 50 million GBP.
